The Village will convert its asphalt parking lots to permeable pavers this summer, after the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District selected the project for funding through its Green Infrastructure Partnership Program. The project will divert 200,000 gallons of storm water runoff annually from the sewer system to a permeable stone base. Pavement with permeable surface will need resurfacing only about every 15-20 years, as opposed to asphalt parking lots that may need resurfacing for double that time.
