Lyme Disease Testing
HealthWhile it is not necessary to undergo a biopsy to determine if you have Lyme disease, your doctor can order a blood test to confirm the presence of antibodies to B. burgdorferi. If these antibodies are present in your blood, you have been infected with Lyme disease. However, you should be aware that the test may cross-react with other diseases, including syphilis, so you should consult your doctor before undergoing this test. Find here – zbadajkleszcza.pl/
It Is Possible For Positive Tests To Come Back Years Later
Tests to determine whether you have Lyme disease are conducted through blood or cerebrospinal fluid samples. A health care provider will collect the blood sample from a vein in your arm. A small amount of blood is collected into a test tube or vial. The blood sample collection process takes about five minutes, and you will be required to sit or lie down on the exam table for this procedure. The blood sample is analyzed in the laboratory, and the results are provided to the ordering physician and the Medical Officer of Health.
The CDC recommends two-tiered Lyme disease testing. First, an EIA test should be positive. Then, a WB test should be positive as well. If the results of either test are negative, you should visit your doctor for an accurate diagnosis. However, if the results of the test are not clear, your doctor may recommend alternative tests. In such cases, the test may not be accurate enough.
